How does Iraq-China relationship develop? Where does the iranian nuclear deal go? On January 1,2020, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif received an exclusive interview with People's Daily Overseas in Beijing and sent New Year's greetings to the Chinese people.

Zarif actively evaluates the achievements of Iraq-China relations in the past year, hopes to continue to push forward the development of Iraq-China relations in the new year, and has expressed his views on the Iranian nuclear situation.

Facing the camera, Zarif sends New Year's greetings to the Chinese people in Chinese. Zarif said this was his fourth visit to China in 2019, less than half a year after his last visit. Maintaining frequent communication with Chinese friends reflects the significance of the overall strategic partnership between Iraq and China.

Zarif expressed his firm support for the Chinese position on issues involving China's core interests and opposing any form of separatism. In response to some western criticisms of china's policies in xinjiang, mr zarif said he had visited xinjiang, a beautiful place. Some western countries that accuse China of Xinjiang's policies are not really concerned about the human rights and well-being of the people of Xinjiang, but simply use human rights as a tool to achieve political ends. Human rights are so important that they should not be abused for political ends.

In 2020, Zarif believes that the cooperation between the two countries in various fields will constantly enrich the connotation of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Iraq and China. Zarif believes that the long-term strategic relationship between Iraq and China is not disturbed by external factors, which is the common will of the two governments and people.

Zarif believes that Iraq and China have strong complementary economic structures and great potential for cooperation. Iran has abundant resources and abundant labor force, and China has remarkable advantages in capital, technology and so on. A pragmatic mode of cooperation with complementarity and synergy between Iran and China serves the interests of the developing countries. Zarif is particularly looking forward to developing scientific and technological cooperation between Iraq and China. Technology represents the future, which is an important reason why the United States remains vigilant to Chinese high-tech enterprises. The public suppression of high-tech enterprises in other countries by a government on a global scale actually hinders the progress and development of science and technology in the world, and most countries in the world will not agree with this unreasonable practice.

Mr Zarif said promoting cultural exchanges was an important direction for the development of bilateral relations. The history of friendly exchanges between the two peoples connected by the ancient Silk Road has lasted for thousands of years. Any good relationship begins with mutual respect, which is what the two cultures have in common. Both Iranian and Chinese cultures emphasize respect for others, elders, wise men and families, and the similarities of cultural values keep the peoples of Iraq and China close to each other. Both the Chinese who visit Iran and the Iranians who come to China will feel a sincere welcome in the other country. Now that the Belt and Road initiative has once again linked Iran to the Chinese people, he hopes to further promote the country's popularity by strengthening tourism exchanges by 2020.

In the interview, mr. zarif said iran was never afraid of dialogue with the u.s. over a comprehensive deal in 2020. The comprehensive agreement is not only 2 pages, but a 160-page document. Every word of the comprehensive agreement has been hammered out, and Iran and the six parties to the Iranian nuclear issue, including the United States, have engaged in unprecedented lengthy negotiations. The conclusion of a comprehensive agreement, regarded as one of the most important achievements of multilateral diplomacy in the early 2000s, is widely welcomed by the world. The unilateral withdrawal of the United States from the comprehensive agreement is an important reason for the heightened tension and instability in the region.

Zarif said the two countries have a common position in upholding multilateralism and opposing unilateralism. Unilateralism is not only a threat to Iraq and China, but also a common threat to the world. The current unilateralist policy pursued by the United States Government will undermine world peace and development, and even harm the United States itself. The world needs a new beginning in 2020, and hopefully the world will have fewer disputes and more dialogue than in 2019.
